ABOUT
CLOVER
ClohtingTheClotheless is a student-rooted initiative wherein children aged between 4-16 years-old living orphanages will be provided with high-quality clothes in the Metropolitan area (Port-au-Prince+ surroundings).
MISSION & HISTORY.
Sandra* is a young girl who came to the urban area of Port-au-Prince to pursue her education. Unfortunately, her guardian, who is her aunt, forcibly asked her to do domestic chores. Even worse, his uncle repeatedly attempted to assault her. In the face of these threatening events, she moved out of her house and requested to stay in an orphanage wherein she expected to keep going to school. Despite her will to attend school, she reportedly wore rags everywhere because the orphanage did not take proper care of her. The reality faced by Sandra is common to many Young Haitians. In fact, there are one million orphans in Haiti many of whom are young children living in precarious hygienic conditions.
Revolted by the insufficient attention these children receive from the public, ClothingTheClotheless distributes high-quality clothes to orphans living in the Metropolitan area. ClothingTheClotheless makes one small step to make dressing up, a choice that everyone can make, including the young orphans.
In order to distribute quality clothes to these orphans. The team of CLOVER partnered with a group of orphanages in the Metropolitan area legally operating under state regulations (Haiti) and international covenants, treaties, and the Geneva Declaration of the Rights of the child.
Secondly, an inventory of the items (clothes) disposable in the warehouses of ClothingTheClotheless has been made available on its website. As such, the head of the respective orphanages can request the clothes the children may need. This innovative step may avoid unnecessary clothes to be delivered to some groups of children whereas others may need these items urgently. Furthermore, the ClothingTheClotheless team has decided to dispatch the clothes not by brand but rather by nature and size. For example, if one visits the ClothingTheClotheless website, it ought to see T-shirts (L, X, XXL) in lieu of Nike, Adidas, or any other brand. This makes ordering the items more practical. In order to request the summer delivery, the respective orphanages will be asked to create a google document wherein they may request the name of needed items and hopefully a picture taken from the website of ClothingTheClotheless. In case some of the heads of the orphanages may not be familiar with google documents, a tutorial video will be shared with them wherein they can quickly learn to do the WishList.
ClothingTheClotheless will ensure that the boxes of clothes are delivered timely. During each delivery mission, the team will use an SUV or a ‘Tap-tap’ depending on the weight of the items put into the Wishlist. Upon arrival at the orphanage, the head of the orphanage will be asked to sign papers therein s/he acknowledges receipt of the delivery. To avoid misunderstanding, all packages will be duly checked by members of the executive team to ensure all the items requested on the WishList will reach their destination.
In order for this project to come to life, the team of ClothingTheClotheless got in touch with several Christian churches, mainly of Protestant faith wherein donation campaigns are expected to take place.
